The prices for shampoos with argan oil vary widely. A litre of shampoo costs between € 20 and € 70. A shampoo bottle usually contains only 200 to 400 ml.
If you already have a preferred shampoo, you can also augment it with pure argan oil. Since the oil has a moisturising effect, only a small amount should be added, 2 -6 drops per 200 ml are sufficient. Larger amounts would make the hair too greasy. If you are not sure whether you will be satisfied with the result, simply add 2 drops of argan oil to the amount of shampoo in your hand. If you use shampoo with argan oil, no special rinsing or hair treatment is necessary. The hair is easy to comb, shines and is more elastic.
Just as you add a few drops of pure argan oil to your favourite shampoo, you can also add a few drops of argan oil to your conditioner. Mix the amount for an application on the palm of your hand by adding 2 drops of argan oil. To create your own conditioner, mix 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar or 1 teaspoon of lemon juice (for blonde hair) together with 5 drops of argan oil and distribute this mixture into hair that has been recently washed. Leave it on for 1 - 2 minutes and then wash the hair with warm water. If you have short and very fine hair, 5 drops of argan oil can be too much and the hair may look greasy after drying: consider using only 2-3 drops.
Naturally, you can make your own hair treatment with pure argan oil and you can ensure that there are no chemical additives such as silicones, parabens or artificial colourants or perfumes. Here are two recipes for your own argan oil hair treatment:
Mix all the ingredients in a porcelain cup and spread the mixture over your washed hair and scalp. Then cover your hair for 30 - 60 minutes, or overnight with cling film or a plastic hood, and wrap a towel over it. Then rinse your hair out well, with warm water, and wash it once with a mild strength shampoo.
